The company operates as a Spanish professional football club. It was founded in the year 1904 as Malaga Football Club. It has its registered head office located in Malaga, Spain. The company plays in Spain's La Liga. It has played 33 seasons in La Liga, 34 in Segunda Division, four in Segunda Divisin B and eleven in Tercera Divisin. It is generally seen as the heir of CD Malaga, one of the historical Andalusian football clubs, by being a near-identical looking football club that even shares the same fanbase and traditions. In addition, the company is owned by Sheikh Abdullah Al Thani.
